Courageous prayer

Courageous prayer is prayer that is empowered by the Word of God, the will of God and the presence of God

(Read Joshua 1:1-9)

In this passage, the Lord commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous so that he could claim, possess and divide up the inheritance as God instructed. The Lord also promised to prosper Joshua as he obeyed Him.

We use these same principles in courageous prayer from Joshua 1:8:

1. Feed on the Word of God in order to pray from the Word of God:
a. God prospers His Word (Is 55:11)
b. The Word gives strength to overcome (1 John 2:14)

2. Meditate and study the Word of God. If we do this we will speak the Word of God. Pray according to the will/heart of God:
a. Jesus teaches us to pray this way (Matt 6:10; Luke 11:2)
b. He desires that all would come to the Knowledge of the Truth (1 Tim2:4; 2 Pet 3:9))

3. We can also be confident and take courage that He will be with us to help us do His will.
a. Pray in and with the presence of God:
b. He abides in us and we in Him
1Jo 3:24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

One who is courageous in prayer does not fear that God is unable or unwilling to answer prayer. God can do what seems impossible to us. "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." Luke 18:27
